JEKYLL ISLAND

Jekyll Island Marina
Stayed at Jekyll Is. a few days. Very interesting history.  Late 1800s private club for Rockefellers, etc.  Now State owns it and is doing restoration of old homes from club era.  Rode bikes all over the island and also took a guided tour.

Stopped at Brunswick Landing to fill up with $1.75/gal diesel and, due to weather, stayed a couple of days.  Met some really nice people there, Mike and Robin, took us provisions shopping in their car. The place had free laundry, and, get this, free beer all day in their very nice lounge.
Also met Mike and Cyndie on Imagination. Traveled with them the next two days.

From Brunswick we anchored out on the Crescent River on our way here,

Traveling with IMAGINATION in the background and some gulls diving for fish in our wake.

Isle of Hope Marina, which will serve for our Savannah base.  There are docks at city front  but also constant wakes from tugs, ships, tour boats.  Not good security either and no on-shore facilities.  So side-tie docked here yesterday in strong current between two other yachts, very tight, only a couple feet fore and aft.  Encountered another couple, Phil and Sally, on a boat we'd met earlier at St. Augustine, so enjoyed going  to dinner with them last night.  Oddly, they are from Alameda.  Also on the Loop.

They are shooting the movie Bay Watch here at the Marina. Should be interesting to see.  Our boat will be in the background.  I offered to star in the episode but have had no response yet.
