We always heard how rough Lake Michigan can be.  Here is an example of how bad it can get.

Passing the big boys.  Many ships loaded with ore, grain and other bulk commodities sail Lake Michigan and all the Great Lakes.

Michigan has hundreds of miles of sandy beaches.  In fact, it has sand dunes, besides, with dune buggies in spots. Who knew?  Oh, well, we didn't.

Downtown Manistee, Mi., a very cool little (6000 pop.) town with a restored historic district and nice municipal docks.

The Vogue Theater has been restored to original but with modern sound and video equipment.

We met Jim and Chelley in Manistee's docks.  They are locals from Muskegan and helped us out all around with local knowledge, boat repair and good fellowship for the better part of a week.
